Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our busy clinic in Dundas. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to grow their career in healthcare administration, with ongoing training provided in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience while supporting the smooth operation of our medical office.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, maintaining an organized calendar.
- Manage incoming phone calls, directing inquiries appropriately and relaying messages accurately.
- Register new patients and update existing patient demographic and insurance information.
- Process patient payments and manage billing inquiries.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy regulations (e.g., PHIPA).
- Prepare examination rooms and assist with patient flow as needed.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and electronic communications.
- Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable.
- Participate in ongoing EMR training and effectively utilize the system for patient records and scheduling.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or customer service role.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Telus Health PS Suite, Accuro, OSCAR).
- Completion of a Medical Office Administration program.
