Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Digital Archivist to join our team, with a specific focus on historical data. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute to Apple’s legacy from anywhere within the United States. In this role, you will be responsible for the preservation, organization, and accessibility of Apple’s vast digital historical assets, ensuring the integrity and discoverability of our past innovations and critical data.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement archival policies and procedures for digital assets with historical value.
- Manage the acquisition, processing, and preservation of digital records, including multimedia, documents, and software.
- Create and maintain detailed metadata for all archived materials to ensure accurate retrieval and long-term accessibility.
- Conduct research and collaborate with various departments to identify and acquire historically significant digital content.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards for data preservation and access.
- Provide expert guidance on best practices for digital archiving and records management.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for digital preservation and access.
- Contribute to the development of an institutional memory program that captures the evolution of Apple's products and culture.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in digital archiving or records management.
- Strong understanding of archival principles and best practices for digital preservation.
- Expertise in metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core, MODS) and data management systems.
- Proficiency with digital asset management (DAM) systems and archival software.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, Information Science, or a related field.
- Experience with large-scale digital migration and ingest projects.
- Familiarity with Apple's historical products, software, and cultural impact.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data processing and automation.
- Experience working with intellectual property and copyright laws related to digital content.
