Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team, focusing on Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and OSHA compliance. This WFH Hybrid role offers the flexibility to work remotely while regularly collaborating on-site in New Port Richey, Florida. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations. You will play a crucial role in preventing incidents, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring our operations meet the highest standards of safety and compliance. This position requires a proactive approach to safety management, strong analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate safety protocols across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain WHS/OSHA compliance programs and policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide comprehensive safety training to employees on various topics, including hazard communication, emergency procedures, and equipment operation.
- Ensure all safety documentation, including permits, logs, and reports, are accurately maintained and submitted as required.
- Stay updated on current WHS/OSHA regulations and industry best practices to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.
- Collaborate with management and employees to foster a proactive safety culture and promote continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for WHS/OSHA-related inquiries and regulatory inspections.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and WHS best practices.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct effective training sessions.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and engage employees at all levels in safety initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
- Experience in the logistics, transportation, or warehousing industry.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance regulations.
