Job Description
Are you passionate about food and eager to kickstart your culinary career? The Grand Brighton is offering an exciting Trainee Chef Apprenticeship. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring chefs with little to no experience to learn from the best in a dynamic, high-end hotel environment. You will gain hands-on experience across various kitchen sections, developing fundamental cooking techniques, understanding kitchen operations, and contributing to the creation of memorable dishes for our guests. This paid apprenticeship offers structured training, mentorship, and a clear path for progression in the culinary world.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior chefs in the daily preparation and cooking of dishes across different kitchen stations.
- Learn and master various cooking methods, knife skills, and presentation techniques.
- Ensure high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
- Help with inventory management, stock rotation, and receiving deliveries.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment.
- Follow recipes and specifications precisely to maintain consistency and quality.
- Prepare ingredients, including washing, chopping, and portioning.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for food and cooking.
- Eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety (training provided).
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic culinary school attendance or vocational training (not mandatory).
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, even if informal.
- GCSEs or equivalent, especially in Maths and English.
