Job Description
Are you passionate about video content and meticulous with details? Univision Communications Inc. is looking for a dedicated Trainee Caption Writer to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to start a career in media accessibility and content production. You will be responsible for creating accurate and timely captions and subtitles for a variety of video content, ensuring our programming is accessible to all audiences. This role offers comprehensive training and an opportunity to grow within a leading media organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe audio and dialogue from video content with high accuracy.
- Create timed captions and subtitles that synchronize precisely with on-screen action and dialogue.
- Review and edit existing captions for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
- Ensure captions comply with company style guides and industry accessibility standards (e.g., FCC guidelines).
- Collaborate with video editors, producers, and post-production teams to meet project deadlines.
- Manage multiple captioning projects simultaneously while maintaining quality.
- Continuously learn and adapt to new captioning software and technologies.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and willingness to learn specialized captioning software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for video content and media accessibility.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish (highly advantageous given our audience).
- Experience with transcription or data entry.
- Familiarity with captioning software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, CaptionMaker).
- Understanding of FCC captioning requirements.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field.
