Job Description
Are you passionate about film and television? Do you have an exceptional eye for detail and a knack for language? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Subtitle Editor Trainee to join our remote team. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the dynamic media localization industry. As a trainee, you will receive comprehensive training in the art and science of subtitling, learning industry-standard software and best practices. This role is 100% remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home and contribute to bringing global stories to diverse audiences. No prior experience in subtitling is required – just a strong willingness to learn and a commitment to quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete structured training modules on subtitling software, techniques, and quality standards.
- Learn to accurately transcribe dialogue and on-screen text for various film and TV content.
- Practice timing and synchronizing subtitles to video content with precision and accuracy.
- Familiarize yourself with client-specific style guides and linguistic requirements.
- Conduct basic quality checks on subtitle files to ensure accuracy, readability, and adherence to guidelines.
- Collaborate with mentors and senior editors to understand feedback and continuously improve skills.
- Maintain high standards of linguistic and technical quality throughout the subtitling process for all assigned projects.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken), with strong grammar and punctuation skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong proofreading abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer usage and a willingness to learn new software quickly.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Passion for film, television, and global storytelling, with an interest in different cultures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous exposure to language services or media production (even as a hobby or academic interest).
- Basic understanding of different subtitle types (e.g., SDH, forced narratives, captioning).
- Familiarity with online content platforms and streaming services.
- Proficiency in a second language is a valuable asset, but not a requirement.
- Experience with any form of digital media editing or content creation.
