Job Description
Join Wasserman’s dynamic legal team as a Sports Agency & Contract Law Intern focusing on Athlete Representation. This immersive internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the complex world of sports law, contract negotiation, and athlete management. You will work closely with experienced attorneys and agents, assisting with research, contract review, and the daily operations that support our elite athlete roster. This role is perfect for ambitious law students or recent graduates eager to kickstart a career in sports law and athlete representation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist legal and agent teams with contract drafting, review, and negotiation processes for athlete endorsement deals, playing contracts, and other agreements.
- Conduct legal research on sports law issues, intellectual property, labor laws, and compliance matters relevant to athlete representation.
- Support agents in client management activities, including scheduling, communication, and preparing presentations.
- Organize and maintain legal documentation, ensuring confidentiality and accessibility.
- Participate in team meetings, contributing to strategic discussions related to athlete career development and brand building.
- Monitor industry trends and legal developments affecting sports and entertainment law.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited Law School (JD program).
- Demonstrated interest and foundational knowledge in sports law, contract law, or intellectual property.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship experience in a law firm, sports agency, or corporate legal department.
- Participation in a sports law society or related extracurricular activities.
- Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements in major sports leagues.
