Job Description
The Sound Reinforcement Tech will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of all audio systems for various church services, rehearsals, special events, and productions. This role requires a strong understanding of live sound principles, a keen ear, and a servant’s heart to support our mission. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced worship environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate digital and analog audio consoles for live worship services, special events, and broadcasts.
- Set up, strike, and troubleshoot microphones, direct boxes, monitors, and other audio equipment.
- Conduct sound checks with worship teams, speakers, and performers to achieve optimal sound quality.
- Manage and maintain wireless microphone systems, in-ear monitor systems, and other RF equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve audio issues quickly and efficiently during live events.
- Assist with inventory management and maintenance of audio equipment, ensuring all gear is in excellent working condition.
- Collaborate with other production team members (lighting, video, media) to ensure seamless technical execution.
- Provide support for various ministry events and meetings as needed.
- Train and mentor volunteers in basic audio operation and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating digital and analog audio mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas).
- Strong understanding of signal flow, gain staging, equalization, compression, and effects processing.
- Experience with microphone selection, placement, and techniques for vocals and instruments.
- Ability to troubleshoot audio problems quickly and effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with various audio cable types, connectors, and wiring standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift and move audio equipment up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in live sound reinforcement, preferably in a house of worship or similar live event setting.
- Experience with ProPresenter or similar media presentation software.
- Basic understanding of acoustics and room tuning.
- Familiarity with Dante or other audio networking protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
- A passion for serving in a ministry setting and a commitment to the mission of Abundant Living Family Church.
