Job Description
We are actively seeking an experienced and passionate Shopify Developer to join our growing digital commerce team in Whistler, British Columbia. This presents a unique and exciting opportunity to directly influence and shape the future of Canadian outdoor retail by designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable e-commerce solutions on the Shopify platform. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our online store, seamlessly integrating new features and functionalities, and ensuring an intuitive, engaging, and frictionless customer journey for our global and local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain high-quality Shopify themes and applications using a strong command of Liquid, HTML, CSS (SCSS), JavaScript (ES6+), and modern front-end frameworks like React.
- Implement and manage third-party integrations, including but not limited to payment gateways, shipping providers, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, product managers, and marketing teams to translate complex business requirements and user stories into robust, scalable, and elegant technical solutions.
- Continuously optimize website performance, responsiveness across all devices, and ensure adherence to SEO best practices to maximize organic reach and user experience.
- Actively participate in code reviews, enforce rigorous coding standards, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation to ensure maintainability and team collaboration.
- Proactively troubleshoot and swiftly resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and an optimal, uninterrupted user experience for our customers.
- Stay consistently up-to-date with the latest Shopify ecosystem updates, emerging industry trends, and cutting-edge web development technologies to ensure our platforms remain at the forefront of innovation.
Required Skills
- Strong demonstrable proficiency in Shopify theme development, including expert-level knowledge of Liquid templating language.
- Extensive expertise in front-end web technologies: HTML5, CSS3 (with SCSS pre-processors), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Proven experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React.js or Vue.js.
- Deep understanding of e-commerce best practices, fundamental UX/UI principles, and web performance optimization techniques.
- Proficient familiarity with version control systems, specifically Git.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a valuable member of a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working with Shopify Plus features, capabilities, and APIs.
- Working knowledge of GraphQL and RESTful APIs for data integration.
- Familiarity with modern build tools and task runners (e.g., Webpack, Gulp).
- Experience with A/B testing methodologies and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics) for data-driven decision-making.
- A genuine passion for outdoor sports and a strong affinity for the Arc'teryx brand and its core values.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a closely related technical field.
