Job Description

We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Pastry Chef / Chocolatier to join our prestigious culinary team in Sudbury, Ontario. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, create, and present a diverse range of high-quality pastries, desserts, and chocolates for various hotel outlets and events.
  • Design and execute innovative dessert menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and modern techniques.
  • Manage daily production schedules, ensuring efficiency and timely delivery of all pastry items.
  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and stock rotation of all pastry and chocolate ingredients.
  • Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards in the pastry kitchen.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled environment.
  • Collaborate with the executive chef and culinary team to align pastry offerings with overall dining concepts.
  • Control food cost and minimize waste without compromising quality.
  • Ensure all creations meet brand standards for taste, texture, and presentation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Chocolatier in a high-volume, luxury hotel or fine-dining restaurant.
  • Exceptional creativity and artistic flair in pastry and chocolate making.
  • In-depth knowledge of various pastry techniques, baking methods, and chocolate tempering.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Passion for culinary innovation and continuous learning.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification in pastry arts.
  • Experience with international dessert styles and techniques.
  • Previous experience in a hotel setting with diverse F&B outlets.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous pastry and chocolate creations.
