Job Description
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Youth Workers to join our team in Portsmouth. This role offers an incredible career path for individuals passionate about supporting young people within a residential setting. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stable environment for young people, helping them develop life skills, achieve personal goals, and transition successfully into adulthood. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to young people in a residential setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Develop and implement individual care plans, working collaboratively with young people, families, and external agencies.
- Organise and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities that promote young people's development and well-being.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting healthy relationships, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on young people's progress, incidents, and daily activities.
- Ensure the safety and safeguarding of all young people, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
- Administer medication as required and follow health and safety guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, management, and external professionals to provide holistic support.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support vulnerable young people.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.
- Resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
- Basic IT proficiency for record-keeping and communication.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working with young people in a residential or care setting.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
- Knowledge of local resources and services for young people in Portsmouth.
