Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our esteemed mental health facility. This full-time position offers a stable income and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals managing mental health conditions. The ideal candidate will provide direct patient care, administer medications, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with mental health disorders.
- Administer medications and monitor for efficacy and adverse effects.
- Provide therapeutic interventions and lead group therapy sessions as appropriate.
- Monitor and document patient's physical and mental health status, including vital signs, behavior, and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and crisis situations with calm and effective interventions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- BLS certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic communication techniques.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion for patients with mental health challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMH-RN).
- Experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- De-escalation and crisis intervention training.
