Job Description

Join Kaiser Permanente as a Pharmacy Technician, specializing in evening and night shifts, where you’ll play a crucial role in our integrated healthcare system. This position offers premium pay for those committed to providing exceptional pharmaceutical support during off-peak hours. You will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring accurate and efficient pharmacy operations. This is a vital role in patient care, ensuring that prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly, contributing directly to positive patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Process prescriptions, verify patient information, and manage medication records.
  • Maintain pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications.
  • Compound medications as required, following sterile compounding guidelines when applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations and Kaiser Permanente policies.
  • Assist with patient education regarding medication use, side effects, and storage as appropriate.
  • Operate pharmacy automation systems and other equipment efficiently.
  • Handle and resolve basic patient and physician inquiries, escalating complex issues to the pharmacist.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the pharmacy area and equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician license/certification in California.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Proficient in pharmacy software systems and automation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Capacity to work evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with sterile compounding techniques.
  • Experience in an integrated healthcare delivery system.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).
