Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a vibrant children’s hospital environment. This crucial role supports our pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of pharmaceutical care to our young patients. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications, specifically tailored for pediatric patients.
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies.
  • Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications, adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
  • Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
  • Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to facilitate timely medication delivery and resolve related issues.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Perform routine quality assurance checks and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service to internal customers, demonstrating empathy and understanding in a children's hospital setting.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State of Florida Pharmacy Technician registration/license.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification (or eligible within 6 months of hire).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Excellent mathematical and calculation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and pharmacy software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach, especially when working with children and their families.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a pediatric pharmacy or children's hospital.
  • Experience with sterile compounding techniques.
  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of pediatric medication dosages and formulations.
