Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Part-time Bike Couriers to join our DoorDash team in Austin, Texas. This role focuses specifically on weekend deliveries within Austin’s Central Business District (CBD), ensuring timely and efficient service for our customers. As a Bike Courier, you will be an independent contractor, responsible for picking up and delivering orders, primarily food, from various local merchants directly to customers. If you love staying active, know your way around downtown Austin, and want to earn money on your own schedule, this opportunity is for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently pick up orders from various restaurants and merchants within the Austin CBD.
- Promptly and safely deliver orders to customers using a bicycle, adhering to all traffic laws.
- Navigate downtown Austin effectively using a smartphone and GPS applications.
- Ensure the integrity and freshness of delivered items during transit.
- Provide friendly and professional service to both merchants and customers.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery status or any issues.
- Manage delivery schedule and prioritize tasks to meet delivery timeframes.
- Maintain a clean and well-functioning bicycle.
- Handle payments or confirm order completion through the DoorDash app.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in riding a bicycle in urban environments.
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with Austin's Central Business District.
- Ability to use a smartphone for dispatching, GPS, and communication.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift and carry delivery bags (up to 20-30 lbs) as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a bike courier or in a similar delivery role.
- Residency in or near the Austin CBD.
- Own a well-maintained bicycle and appropriate safety gear (helmet, lights).
- Familiarity with the DoorDash platform and app.
