Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-time Career Mentor to join our team, focusing on industry-specific guidance for our students and professionals. This WFH Hybrid role offers the flexibility of working remotely with occasional in-person collaboration or events in the greater Vacaville/Davis/Sacramento area. As a Career Mentor, you will provide personalized coaching, industry insights, and practical advice to help individuals navigate their career paths, develop essential skills, and achieve their professional aspirations within a specific industry sector. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands, preparing our learners for successful transitions and advancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and group career mentoring sessions, offering personalized guidance and feedback.
- Share in-depth, current industry knowledge, trends, and best practices relevant to your area of expertise.
- Assist mentees with resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation, and networking strategies.
- Help mentees set realistic career goals and develop actionable plans to achieve them.
- Facilitate workshops or webinars on career development topics specific to your industry.
- Maintain accurate records of mentee interactions and progress.
- Collaborate with program managers and faculty to align mentoring activities with curriculum objectives.
- Stay updated on labor market trends and evolving industry demands to provide relevant advice.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a specific industry sector (e.g., Tech, Healthcare, Biotech, Environmental Science, Business).
- Proven experience in mentorship, coaching, or talent development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Strong ability to provide constructive feedback and motivate individuals.
- Familiarity with career development resources and job search strategies.
- Proficiency in virtual communication and collaboration tools.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Certification in coaching or career counseling.
- Experience working with diverse student populations or adult learners.
