Job Description

Join Texas Health Resources as a Music Therapy Assistant and embark on a rewarding career helping patients improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being through the power of music. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this specialized field. You will work under the supervision of a certified music therapist, assisting in the implementation of therapeutic music interventions, supporting patient engagement, and contributing to a healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist certified music therapists in planning and implementing therapeutic music interventions for individuals and groups.
  • Prepare session materials, instruments, and equipment, ensuring they are clean and functional.
  • Facilitate patient participation in music activities, including singing, playing instruments, rhythmic exercises, and creative expression.
  • Observe and document patient responses and progress during sessions, reporting findings to the supervising therapist.
  • Provide one-on-one support to patients as directed by the music therapist, encouraging engagement and adherence to therapy goals.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to therapy scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development as provided.
