Job Description
Are you a meticulous individual with a passion for online gaming and a keen eye for network performance? Activision Blizzard is seeking a dedicated Multiplayer Network Tester with a strong focus on Server Stability to join our remote team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless, high-performance operation of our multiplayer game servers, delivering an unparalleled experience to millions of players worldwide. This is a 100% remote position, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States. You will identify, analyze, and report on network-related bugs and server stability issues, collaborating closely with development teams to ensure our games run flawlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive test plans specifically designed for multiplayer network features and server stability.
- Monitor and analyze network traffic, latency, packet loss, and server performance metrics during gameplay.
- Identify, reproduce, and accurately document network-related bugs and server-side issues using bug tracking software.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and development teams to understand technical requirements and provide detailed feedback.
- Perform stress testing and load testing on servers to identify performance bottlenecks and stability concerns.
- Verify fixes and regression test existing network functionalities.
- Contribute to the improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies for network stability.
- Stay up-to-date with current network technologies and trends in online gaming.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in quality assurance, with a focus on network testing or server stability for multiplayer games.
- Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and their application in online gaming.
- Proficiency with network diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, Fiddler, Ping, Traceroute).
- Experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for test automation.
- Knowledge of cloud-based server infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Passion for video games and experience playing a variety of multiplayer titles.
- ISTQB or similar QA certification.
