Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Loading Bay Operative to join our team in Port Elgin for an immediate start on the night shift. As a Loading Bay Operative, you will be crucial to the efficient movement of mail and parcels through our distribution center. This role involves manual handling, operating equipment, and ensuring all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed accurately and safely. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, overnight environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload postal vehicles, trucks, and trailers efficiently and safely.
- Sort and scan incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and parcels.
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment as required (training provided if necessary).
- Inspect freight for damage and report any discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organized loading bay area.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational targets.
- Perform other general warehouse duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Basic communication skills to interact with team members.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Comfortable working night shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, loading bay, or logistics environment.
