Job Description

Are you a passionate gamer with a keen eye for detail? Do you love dissecting games and finding every flaw? Microsoft’s Xbox team is seeking a dedicated Junior Quality Control Tester to join our ranks. In this on-site role in Richland, WA, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest quality of our console and PC game titles before they reach our players. You will execute test plans, identify bugs, and provide critical feedback, directly contributing to the player experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute detailed test plans and test cases for console and PC games.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking systems.
  • Verify bug fixes and ensure the stability of game builds.
  • Provide clear and concise written and verbal feedback on game quality, usability, and fun factor.
  • Collaborate closely with development, design, and other QA teams to achieve product excellence.
  • Participate in game review sessions and contribute to product improvement discussions.
  • Maintain comprehensive test documentation and reports.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrable passion for video games across various genres and platforms (console and PC).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in identifying, isolating, and clearly describing software defects.
  • Basic understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in game testing or quality assurance (e.g., as a paid tester, volunteer, or active beta participant).
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Bugzilla).
  • Basic technical understanding of PC hardware and console systems.
  • Experience with various game genres, including AAA titles.
  • Relevant certifications in QA or game development.
