Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and diligent Internal Hospital Courier to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of essential items throughout our hospital facilities. This includes medical records, laboratory specimens, pharmacy items, mail, and small equipment. Your contribution ensures the smooth operation of our services, directly supporting patient care and clinical teams. This is an on-site position requiring good physical fitness and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver medical records, laboratory specimens, pathology samples, and other clinical items between departments.
- Transport pharmacy supplies, equipment, and general mail within the hospital campus.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and Trust policies.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation for all items transported, ensuring secure chain of custody.
- Operate and maintain courier equipment (e.g., trolleys, barrows) safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with staff across various departments to coordinate deliveries and collections.
- Respond promptly to urgent requests, prioritizing tasks to meet critical deadlines.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all sensitive information and materials handled.
- Report any issues or delays in transportation to the appropriate supervisor.
