Job Description
BakerHostetler is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Intellectual Property (IP) Attorney to join our dynamic team in Columbus, OH. Key Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute patent applications across various technical fields.
- Manage trademark portfolios, including prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement.
- Provide legal counsel on copyright and trade secret matters.
- Conduct IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements.
- Represent clients in IP litigation matters, including discovery, motions, and trials.
- Advise clients on IP strategy, risk management, and commercialization.
- Prepare and negotiate IP-related agreements, such as licenses and assignments.
- Stay abreast of developments in IP law and provide thought leadership.
- Mentor junior attorneys and support staff.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Ohio Bar (or eligibility for admission).
- Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in intellectual property law.
- Strong understanding of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex IP portfolios.
- Strong client communication and advisory skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field (e.g., engineering, computer science, biology).
- Experience with international IP filings and strategies.
- Prior experience in an AmLaw 100 firm setting.
- Demonstrated experience in IP litigation.
