Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Hospital Front Desk team member to join our dynamic administrative team. This role is crucial as you will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and medical staff, setting the tone for their experience at St. Patrick Hospital. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Due to the nature of hospital operations, this position requires availability for a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and holidays. You will manage various administrative tasks, ensure accurate patient information, and provide exceptional customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, visitors, and staff warmly and professionally upon arrival.
  • Manage patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately.
  • Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments as required.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, maintaining organized patient schedules.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls to the appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Handle patient inquiries and provide assistance with navigating hospital services.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and other documents.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and communication.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient safety and privacy.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service or administrative role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • Flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, medical, or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Kootenai, Salish).
