Job Description
As a Home Infusion Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of life-sustaining and health-restoring infusion therapies directly to patients’ homes. This is a mobile role requiring travel within the Decatur area to prepare, deliver, and educate patients and caregivers on infusion equipment and supplies. You will work closely with pharmacists and nurses to ensure safe, accurate, and timely provision of medications and related services, contributing directly to an enhanced patient experience. Weekly bonuses are offered to recognize your essential contributions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications, adhering to strict pharmaceutical standards and safety protocols.
- Organize and deliver infusion supplies, equipment, and medications to patient homes or alternate care sites.
- Provide basic patient and caregiver education on the use and care of infusion equipment and supplies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all medications, supplies, and patient interactions in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Manage and organize pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of pharmacy equipment.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and relevant state and federal regulations.
Required Skills
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA.
- Active state pharmacy technician license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a home infusion, hospital, or specialty pharmacy setting.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with current auto insurance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile environment.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and pharmacy software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sterile compounding techniques and cleanroom protocols.
- Prior experience in home infusion or directly assisting patients in their homes.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Aseptic technique training/certification.
