Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Hardware Warehouse Clerk with a strong focus on DIY knowledge to join our team in Madison, WI. This role is essential for maintaining efficient warehouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory, and assisting with product organization. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of various hardware products, tools, and common DIY projects, enabling them to better organize and manage our extensive product range. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and process incoming shipments of hardware, tools, and building materials.
- Organize and stock inventory in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper labeling and accessibility.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and assist in identifying discrepancies.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring products are correctly picked, packed, and loaded.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently (training provided if needed).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.
- Assist customers and store associates with locating products and providing basic DIY advice based on product knowledge.
- Collaborate with purchasing and sales teams to optimize inventory flow and product placement.
- Handle returns and damaged goods according to company policies.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of common hardware, tools, and building materials.
- Basic knowledge of DIY projects and home improvement principles.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management.
- Basic computer proficiency for inventory tracking.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, retail, or hardware environment.
- Forklift certification or experience operating similar warehouse equipment.
- A demonstrated passion for DIY projects and home improvement.
- Knowledge of safety procedures in a warehouse setting.
