Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled High School Orchestra Teacher to inspire and educate our talented students. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive orchestra curriculum, directing various student ensembles, and fostering a love for music performance. This role involves preparing students for concerts, competitions, and community events, while also nurturing their individual musical growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging orchestra curriculum for high school students.
- Conduct daily rehearsals for various levels of string and full orchestra ensembles.
- Prepare students for multiple performances, including school concerts, district events, and external competitions.
- Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and assign grades.
- Maintain and manage orchestra instruments, equipment, and music library.
- Collaborate with other music department staff and school administration.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives.
- Organize and supervise field trips related to musical performances or educational opportunities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field.
- Valid Florida Educator Certificate in Music (K-12) with an Orchestra endorsement.
- Proficiency in playing string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass).
- Strong conducting skills.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and directing high school orchestras.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Performance or Music Education.
- Experience with score study and musical arrangement.
- Knowledge of music technology and software.
- Experience in organizing and managing musical events or tours.
- Participation in professional music organizations.
