Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Haul Specialist to join our dedicated team in Palmdale, CA. This pivotal role is responsible for the meticulous planning, coordination, and execution of transport operations involving oversize and overweight cargo. You will be instrumental in navigating complex logistical challenges, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and delivering specialized freight safely and on schedule. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in heavy haul logistics, permit acquisition, route surveying, and effective communication with clients, drivers, and regulatory bodies. This position offers relocation assistance for qualified candidates looking to join our industry-leading team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute complex heavy haul and oversize load transportation projects from inception to completion.
- Conduct comprehensive route surveys and feasibility studies to identify potential obstacles and determine optimal transport paths.
- Obtain all necessary permits, escorts, and regulatory approvals from state, federal, and local authorities.
- Coordinate with drivers, customers, equipment operators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
- Develop and implement detailed lift and securement plans in accordance with safety standards and cargo specifications.
- Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and adapt plans as needed to mitigate risks and maintain schedules.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of heavy haul regulations, permitting requirements, and industry best practices.
- Provide expert guidance and support to drivers on loading, securement, and safe transportation procedures.
- Prepare accurate documentation, reports, and cost estimates for heavy haul projects.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and company policies throughout all operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in heavy haul logistics, oversize load transportation, or specialized freight management.
- Proven expertise in acquiring state and federal permits for oversize and overweight loads.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and cargo securement principles.
- Exceptional planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
- Proficiency in route planning software and standard office applications.
- Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with project management in a transportation or construction environment.
- Familiarity with CAD software for load planning and route analysis.
