Job Description

This is an incredible opportunity for recent graduates and individuals with limited IT experience to kickstart their careers at Google. The Google IT Resident program is a paid, immersive training initiative designed to provide foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in various IT support functions within a dynamic global tech environment. Residents will gain practical skills in networking, systems administration, automation, and more, working alongside experienced Google professionals. This program is ideal for those looking to build a strong technical foundation and contribute to Google’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Google employees for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT incidents, escalating complex problems to senior engineers when necessary.
  • Assist with the deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of IT infrastructure components.
  • Participate in various IT projects, including system upgrades, security enhancements, and automation initiatives.
  • Document technical procedures, solutions, and best practices to contribute to our knowledge base.
  • Learn and apply Google's internal tools and systems for efficient IT service delivery and management.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other Google departments to ensure smooth operation of IT services and projects.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in information technology and a passion for continuous learning and problem-solving.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure) and their basic services.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and adherence to IT service management (ITSM) principles.
