Job Description
Are you passionate about gaming and have a keen eye for detail, especially in fast-paced environments? Electronic Arts is seeking a dedicated Game Tester to join our Cambridge team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the quality and playability of our upcoming titles, specifically focusing on games designed for high-speed, dynamic gameplay. Your primary responsibility will be to identify, document, and track bugs, glitches, and design flaws within a fast-moving development cycle. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to evolving game mechanics and features. Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed test plans and procedures for pre-release game titles, with a strong focus on high-speed gameplay mechanics and performance.
- Identify, replicate, and accurately document software defects, glitches, and usability issues using bug tracking software.
- Provide clear, concise, and actionable feedback on game features, balance, and overall player experience.
- Collaborate closely with development, design, and production teams to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
- Perform regression testing and verification of bug fixes to ensure stability and quality.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies within a "Subito" (immediate/rapid) testing framework.
- Maintain comprehensive test reports and communicate progress to the QA Lead.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings, offering insights and contributing to problem-solving discussions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in software quality assurance or game testing, ideally with games featuring high-speed action or complex mechanics.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
- Strong understanding of video game mechanics, genres, and player expectations.
- Capacity to quickly learn new tools and proprietary software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Design, or a related field.
- Experience with automated testing tools and scripting.
- Familiarity with various gaming platforms (PC, console, mobile).
- Prior experience in a "live ops" or continuous delivery environment.
- A strong portfolio of completed games or personal game projects.
- Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB).
