Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Medical Transcriptionist to join our team as a specialized side gig. This remote position offers excellent flexibility for individuals looking to supplement their income by providing accurate and timely transcription services for various medical specialties. You will be responsible for converting dictated medical reports, clinical notes, summaries, and other healthcare-related audio files into written documents while ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe dictated medical reports, patient histories, physicals, office notes, consultations, operative reports, discharge summaries, and other medical documents.
- Ensure the correct spelling of medical terms, names of physicians, and medications.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of medical reports.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) at all times.
- Adhere to established turnaround times and deadlines.
- Utilize medical reference materials, dictionaries, and spell checkers to ensure accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any issues or challenges encountered during transcription.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, and clarity.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Excellent English grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Minimum typing speed of 60 WPM with high accuracy.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency with transcription software and word processing tools (e.g., Microsoft Word).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification in Medical Transcription.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Familiarity with various medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery).
- Prior experience working as a freelance or remote medical transcriptionist.
