Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous Food Chemist with a strong focus on nutritional analysis to join our quality control and R&D team in Kapolei, Hawaii. This is an immediate hire position for a professional dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of food safety and nutritional integrity for our diverse range of products. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting detailed chemical analysis, interpreting data, and contributing to product development and quality assurance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely chemical analyses of food products, raw materials, and in-process samples, with a primary focus on nutritional components (e.g., vitamins, minerals, macronutrients).
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment, including but not limited to HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers, and various wet chemistry apparatus.
- Develop and validate new analytical methods as needed to meet evolving regulatory requirements and product specifications.
- Interpret analytical data, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to R&D, quality assurance, and production teams.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with relevant food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA) and internal quality standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO).
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving related to product quality and process improvements.
- Maintain detailed and organized laboratory records and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product development and existing product optimization.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a food chemistry laboratory, specifically with nutritional analysis.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, and UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
- Strong understanding of food chemistry principles, nutrient analysis techniques, and food safety regulations.
- Experience with method development and validation.
- Excellent data analysis, report writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software.
- Experience with sensory evaluation techniques or microbiological testing.
- Knowledge of statistical process control and quality assurance methodologies.
