Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Fleet Transition Driver with a primary focus on new car delivery. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transport of new vehicles from manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, or ports to various dealership locations or designated holding areas. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to strict safety protocols, and a commitment to maintaining the pristine condition of new vehicles during transit. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (various classes, potentially including light-duty trucks with car haulers) to transport new automobiles.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate techniques and equipment, ensuring securement and preventing damage.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of vehicle movements, delivery schedules, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, logistics coordinators, and dealership personnel.
- Ensure all delivery paperwork is accurately completed and submitted.
- Represent XPO Logistics professionally at all times, maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- Conduct minor vehicle maintenance checks (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure) as required.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or delays promptly to management.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C (or higher, depending on vehicle type) driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience.
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Strong understanding of vehicle securement techniques.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to read maps and use GPS navigation systems.
- Physical ability to load/unload vehicles and perform routine vehicle checks.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specifically in new vehicle delivery or car hauling.
- Knowledge of various vehicle makes and models.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor roadside adjustments.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
