Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Dinosaur Museum Educator with a strong focus on public speaking to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about paleontology and capable of delivering engaging, informative, and interactive presentations about dinosaurs and prehistoric life to diverse audiences, including families, school groups, and general museum visitors. This role is crucial for bringing the ancient world to life and inspiring a new generation of scientists and curious minds.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver captivating public presentations and demonstrations on various dinosaur-related topics.
- Lead guided tours and educational programs for school groups (K-12) and general museum visitors.
- Develop and implement interactive activities and educational materials that align with scientific concepts and museum exhibits.
- Engage visitors of all ages through storytelling, Q&A sessions, and hands-on experiences.
- Ensure the safety and positive experience of all program participants.
- Collaborate with museum staff to develop new educational content and improve existing programs.
- Stay current with scientific research in paleontology and informal science education best practices.
Required Skills
- Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to captivate and educate diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated passion for paleontology, natural history, and science education.
- Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and engagingly to various age groups.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Biology, Geology, Paleontology, Museum Studies, or a related scientific field.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced museum environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ year) in museum education, informal science education, or a similar public education role.
- Familiarity with Indiana academic standards for science (K-12).
- Experience developing and facilitating educational programs.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, ASL) is a plus.
