Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Developmental Music Specialist with an Early Intervention Focus to join our multidisciplinary team. In this pivotal role, you will utilize music-based interventions to support the developmental needs of infants and toddlers, helping them achieve critical milestones. You will work directly with children and their families, providing individualized and group music therapy sessions designed to enhance communication, motor skills, cognitive development, and social-emotional regulation. This role requires a creative, compassionate, and knowledgeable professional dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of young children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive music-based developmental assessments for infants and toddlers.
  • Design and implement individualized music intervention plans tailored to developmental goals (e.g., communication, motor, cognitive, social-emotional).
  • Facilitate both individual and group music therapy sessions in clinic, home, or community settings.
  • Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, and other early intervention specialists (e.g., OTs, PTs, SLPs) to integrate music strategies into daily routines.
  • Document client progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and maintain accurate records.
  • Educate families and other professionals on the benefits and techniques of developmental music interventions.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field with a strong emphasis on early childhood development.
  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with infants and toddlers in an early intervention or pediatric setting.
  • Profound knowledge of child development theories and milestones (0-3 years).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt music interventions to meet diverse needs and cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in playing multiple musical instruments (e.g., guitar, piano, percussion).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Therapy.
  • Experience with evidence-based early intervention models and practices.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
  • Specialized training or certification in related therapeutic modalities (e.g., DIR/Floortime, RDI).
