Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Intern to join our team in Huntington Beach, CA. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic global oil and gas environment. You will support various finance and accounting functions, contributing to real-world projects and learning about financial reporting, analysis, and compliance within a major energy corporation. This role is designed for students eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting and build a foundation for a career in finance or accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
- Support the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Reconcile various accounts and transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Participate in data collection and analysis for financial reporting and operational insights.
- Help maintain financial records and documentation.
- Collaborate with different departments to gather financial information and support cross-functional projects.
- Conduct research on accounting principles, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as needed.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and other Office applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated interest in the energy sector and corporate finance/accounting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or work experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Familiarity with financial software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Strong academic record (minimum GPA of 3.0).
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles (GAAP).
