Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and physically strong individuals to join our touring crew as a Circus Big Top Setup Laborer. This demanding role involves extensive travel across the country, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and performing heavy manual labor to erect and dismantle our iconic circus big top and associated infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a historic entertainment spectacle, requiring exceptional teamwork, resilience, and a commitment to safety and the show.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in the physical setup and breakdown of the circus big top tent structure, including poles, rigging, canvas, and seating.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment, props, and other touring essentials from transport vehicles.
- Perform general site maintenance and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the performance area.
- Operate various tools and machinery safely and efficiently as required for setup tasks.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company guidelines to ensure a secure working environment for the entire team.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow crew members and other departments to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Travel extensively with the circus troupe to new locations on a regular schedule.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical strength and stamina, capable of lifting heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly.
- Ability to work long hours, often outdoors, in diverse weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Problem-solving aptitude and adaptability to changing work environments.
- Willingness to commit to a rigorous travel schedule.
- A strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in heavy labor, construction, event setup, or similar physically demanding roles.
- Familiarity with rigging, carpentry, or large-scale tent assembly.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and experience with power tools.
- Comfort working at heights.
