Job Description

WestRock, a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging solutions, is seeking a meticulous and safety-conscious Cardboard Tube Cutter to join our team in Altoona, PA. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the precise operation and maintenance of machinery designed to cut cardboard tubes to exact specifications. This position is fundamental to our production process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality packaging components for our diverse clientele. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor cardboard tube cutting machinery according to production schedules and specifications.
  • Ensure the accurate cutting of tubes, regularly checking dimensions and quality to meet established standards.
  • Load and unload raw materials (cardboard stock) and finished products from machines.
  • Perform routine machine adjustments, maintenance, and cleaning to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues to the team lead or supervisor.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production targets and maintain workflow.

Required Skills

  • Proven manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise machinery operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and quality checks.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or plant environment.
  • Familiarity with operating industrial machinery or cutting equipment.
  • Experience in the packaging industry.
