Job Description
Join FedEx Express as an Air Freight Handler at our Indianapolis airport location. This is a crucial role responsible for the efficient and safe loading, unloading, and sorting of air cargo. We are looking for dedicated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, physical environment and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight safely and efficiently from aircraft, trucks, and sorting equipment.
- Sort and scan packages according to destination and service type.
- Operate various material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and tuggers (training provided).
- Inspect freight for damage and report discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures and regulations.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet operational deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and a noisy environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, freight, or logistics environment.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
- Familiarity with scanning technology and inventory systems.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
