Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Agrochemical Chemist with a strong focus on Fertilizer & Crop Science to join our innovative research and development team in Gilbert, Arizona. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the discovery, development, and optimization of novel fertilizer formulations and crop science solutions designed to enhance plant growth, nutrient uptake, and overall crop yield. You will work in a dynamic laboratory environment, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring cutting-edge agricultural products to market. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory and greenhouse experiments to evaluate the efficacy and safety of new fertilizer formulations and crop protection chemistries.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis of agrochemical products, raw materials, and plant tissues using various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, spectroscopy).
- Develop and validate new analytical methods for the characterization of active ingredients and formulations.
- Interpret complex scientific data, prepare detailed technical reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with formulation scientists, agronomists, and field trial specialists to optimize product performance and address application challenges.
- Maintain meticulous records of experimental procedures, observations, and results in accordance with GLP/GCP standards.
- Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental regulations in the laboratory and during field-related activities.
- Stay abreast of current scientific literature, industry trends, and regulatory changes relevant to agrochemicals and crop nutrition.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Agrochemicals, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in an industrial or academic research setting, preferably within agrochemicals, fertilizers, or related chemical industries.
- Proven expertise in analytical chemistry techniques, including HPLC, GC-MS, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and titrimetry.
- Strong understanding of organic and inorganic chemistry principles relevant to agrochemical formulation and mode of action.
- Demonstrated ability to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and draw sound conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information clearly.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization.
- Knowledge of plant physiology, soil science, and nutrient management.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines for agrochemical products (e.g., EPA, FIFRA).
- Experience in scaling up chemical processes or formulations.
- Prior experience working with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
