Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join our dynamic hospital-based team. This is a full-time position primarily focused on night shifts, offering a competitive night shift differential. The ACNP will provide advanced nursing care to acutely ill patients, managing complex health problems in a fast-paced inpatient setting. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, diagnosing and treating acute conditions, prescribing medications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role requires a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous professional development. Experience in an acute care setting is essential, and the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for acutely ill patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging studies.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians and healthcare teams.
- Prescribe medications and other therapies according to established protocols and state regulations.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document all findings accurately.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their condition and treatment.
- Perform emergency procedures as necessary, within scope of practice.
- Participate in daily rounds, case conferences, and other team meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
Required Skills
- Current Arizona RN and ACNP licensure
- ANCC or AANP board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Current DEA registration
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ACNP in an acute care or hospital setting
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working night shifts in a hospital environment
- Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or hospitalist services
- DNP or PhD in Nursing
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume patient census
- Familiarity with Epic EHR system
