Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Thrift Store Sorter to join our team in Fayetteville. This vital role is at the heart of our mission, directly contributing to the quality and quantity of goods available in our stores, which in turn funds our community programs. As a Sorter, you will be responsible for evaluating, categorizing, and preparing donated items for sale, ensuring that only the best quality products reach our shelves. This role offers varied daily tasks, a supportive team environment, and the satisfaction of knowing your work directly helps those in need. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and process incoming donations with care and efficiency.
  • Sort donated goods into categories such as clothing, housewares, electronics, books, and miscellaneous items.
  • Inspect items for quality, cleanliness, damage, and suitability for resale according to established guidelines.
  • Price items accurately and consistently using provided pricing guides.
  • Tag and prepare items for placement on the sales floor.
  • Operate basic equipment like balers or pallet jacks (training provided if needed).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sorting area.
  • Assist with moving inventory and restocking as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production goals.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality items.
  • Physical stamina: ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items up to 50 lbs regularly throughout the shift.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels and follow instructions.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in retail, thrift store operations, or warehouse sorting.
  • Familiarity with various types of merchandise and their value.
