Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organized Tally Clerk Porter with a strong focus on records and logistics to join our team in Cheltenham. This vital role involves accurately tallying, verifying, and moving goods within our warehouse and logistics operations. You will be responsible for maintaining precise documentation of all inventory movements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in record-keeping and material handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately tally and verify all incoming and outgoing goods against manifests, purchase orders, and delivery notes.
- Physically move, load, unload, and organize stock and materials within the warehouse using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.
- Maintain meticulous records of all stock movements, discrepancies, and damages, escalating issues as required.
- Ensure the correct labeling and storage of items, adhering to company guidelines and safety standards.
- Operate basic material handling equipment such as pallet trucks safely and efficiently.
- Assist in regular inventory counts and audits, contributing to overall stock accuracy.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and operational procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in counting and record-keeping.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and record maintenance.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to work.
- Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar records-focused environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or warehouse management software.
- Forklift operator certification (advantageous but not required).
- GCSEs in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
