Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Data Transfer Specialist with a strong focus on medical records to join our remote team. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate, secure, and timely transfer of sensitive patient data between various systems and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of medical record structures, data integrity principles, and HIPAA compliance. You will be responsible for managing data transfers, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining detailed documentation of all processes. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the specified geographic area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute secure and accurate transfers of medical record data between internal systems and external healthcare providers or vendors.
  • Ensure all data transfer activities comply with HIPAA regulations, privacy laws, and company policies.
  • Monitor data transfer processes for completion and accuracy, promptly identifying and resolving any discrepancies or errors.
  • Prepare, validate, and import/export data files in various formats (e.g., HL7, CSV, XML, PDF).
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all data transfer procedures, configurations, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with IT, clinical staff, and other departments to facilitate smooth data integration and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in testing and validation of new data transfer tools and system upgrades.
  • Provide regular updates on data transfer status and report on any potential risks or issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data transfer processes and protocols.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data management, data transfer, or a related role within a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with medical record systems (e.g., EHR/EMR platforms).
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant data privacy regulations.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation tools and techniques (e.g., Excel, SQL, scripting for data extraction/transformation).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or similar.
  • Familiarity with data transfer protocols (e.g., SFTP, API integrations).
  • Certification in Health Information Management (RHIA, RHIT) or related data management certifications.
