Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Home Infusion Tech for a mobile role based out of our Schaumburg, IL location. In this critical position, you will be responsible for preparing, delivering, and assisting with the setup of home infusion therapy services for patients in their residences. This is a mobile role that requires travel throughout the Schaumburg and surrounding areas, utilizing a company vehicle or mileage reimbursement. You will play a vital role in patient care by ensuring accurate medication preparation, maintaining sterile environments, and educating patients on equipment usage. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile compounds for home infusion therapy according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Perform quality checks on all prepared medications and equipment before dispatch.
- Deliver medications, supplies, and equipment to patient homes in a timely and safe manner.
- Educate patients and/or caregivers on the proper use of infusion pumps and other therapy-related equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of medications and supplies.
- Ensure all equipment is clean, calibrated, and in good working order.
- Document all activities, including preparation, delivery, patient education, and equipment maintenance, accurately and thoroughly.
- Adhere to all regulatory guidelines, safety standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and patient service coordinators to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile setting
- Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification
- Previous experience in a pharmacy setting, especially with sterile compounding
- Experience in home infusion or a related healthcare field
- Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations
- IV certification
