Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Back of House Porter to join our Sheffield team. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our back-of-house areas, supporting both inventory management and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation. This position requires a proactive individual who is meticulous, hardworking, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and store incoming deliveries, verifying contents against invoices and reporting discrepancies.
  • Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and maintaining accurate records of goods.
  • Organise and maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of storerooms, loading docks, and other back-of-house areas.
  • Operate manual handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., pallet trucks, trolleys).
  • Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring items are correctly packed and labelled.
  • Support the sales floor teams by moving stock and equipment as required.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with waste management and recycling initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for inventory tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a back-of-house, warehouse, or retail environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management procedures.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Experience operating manual handling equipment.
