Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Verification Technician with a strong pharmacy focus to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. In this high-demand role, you will be crucial in ensuring patients receive timely access to their necessary medications by accurately verifying insurance benefits and authorizations. You will work closely with pharmacists, patients, and insurance providers to streamline the prescription process, resolve coverage issues, and maintain meticulous records. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, a strong understanding of pharmacy operations, and a commitment to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage for prescribed medications and services.
- Obtain necessary prior authorizations and resolve any coverage denials or discrepancies with insurance companies.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their insurance benefits, potential out-of-pocket costs, and available financial assistance programs.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of prescriptions.
- Document all insurance verification and authorization details accurately in the patient's profile and pharmacy systems.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various insurance plans, formularies, and regulatory requirements.
- Handle inquiries from patients, prescribers, and insurance providers professionally and efficiently.
- Assist with billing and claims submission processes as needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in pharmacy operations or insurance verification.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy terminology, drug names, and common medication classes.
- Proficiency in navigating various insurance portals and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience with pharmacy management software (e.g., RxConnect, EPIC Willow).
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
