Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Healthcare Policy Researcher to join our dynamic team focused on clinical data and reform initiatives. This role is crucial for analyzing complex healthcare policies, evaluating their impact using extensive clinical data, and contributing to the development of innovative strategies for healthcare system improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background, a deep understanding of healthcare policy landscapes, and proficiency in working with large datasets to inform evidence-based recommendations. You will play a key role in shaping our approach to healthcare reform, ensuring that our policies are informed by rigorous research and aligned with our commitment to patient well-being and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of current and proposed healthcare policies, regulations, and legislative changes at federal, state, and local levels.
- Utilize vast clinical datasets to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of healthcare policies on patient outcomes, access to care, and costs.
- Develop and implement research methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, to assess healthcare policy implications.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, presentations, and publications synthesizing research findings for diverse audiences, including senior leadership, policymakers, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, data scientists, economists, and legal experts, to inform policy development and advocacy efforts.
- Monitor emerging trends in healthcare delivery, payment models, and technology to identify opportunities for policy innovation and reform.
- Contribute to grant proposals and secure funding for policy-related research projects.
- Present research findings at conferences and forums, enhancing Kaiser Permanente's thought leadership in healthcare policy.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on policy matters to support strategic decision-making within the organization.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in healthcare policy analysis, research, or related fields.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python).
- Demonstrated ability to work with and interpret large clinical or administrative datasets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research findings into clear, concise policy recommendations.
- In-depth knowledge of the US healthcare system, its financing, regulatory environment, and current reform efforts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Master's degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Health Policy, Health Services Research, Economics).
- Experience with health economics and outcomes research (HEOR).
- Familiarity with specific policy areas such as value-based care, health equity, or digital health regulations.
- Record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national conferences.
- Project management experience, particularly in research settings.
