Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Shopping & Mobility Aide to join our social community support team in Islington. In this vital role, you will provide essential assistance to individuals, helping them maintain their independence and engage with their local community. You will support clients with their shopping needs, assist with mobility, and facilitate social interaction, enhancing their overall well-being and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with grocery shopping and other personal errands, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and respectfully.
  • Provide safe and comfortable assistance with mobility, including transfers, walking, and using mobility aids.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, social events, or community activities, fostering their engagement and combating isolation.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support, creating a positive and trusting relationship with clients.
  • Help clients organise their homes and personal spaces to enhance safety and accessibility.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in a client's condition or circumstances.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the care team.

Required Skills

  • Proven empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assist with mobility and perform light physical tasks.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred for certain routes, but not strictly mandatory for all roles).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a care or support role, preferably with elderly or disabled individuals.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
  • Basic First Aid certification.
