Job Description

As a Hospital Porter, you will be an essential part of our hospital operations, ensuring the smooth movement of patients, equipment, and vital supplies. Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely and courteously between wards, departments, and clinics using wheelchairs, trolleys, and beds.
  • Move medical equipment, specimens, records, and supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Assist with the collection and delivery of mail, laundry, and other necessary items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of equipment used for transport.
  • Respond to emergency calls efficiently and professionally.
  • Provide assistance and support to nursing and medical staff as required.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and hospital policies.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Physical fitness to handle manual tasks, including pushing and pulling equipment and patients.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient interaction.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping and following instructions.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
  • A proactive and helpful attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Basic First Aid certification.
  • Understanding of hospital environments (though not essential, as training is provided).
  • Full UK Driving Licence (for potential future roles involving off-site transfers).
