Job Description
As an Outpatient Clinic Porter at Nuffield Health, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our outpatient clinics in Headington, Oxford. This friendly role involves supporting patients, clinical staff, and administrative teams by providing essential transport, equipment management, and general support services within a fast-paced healthcare environment. We are looking for someone with a kind demeanor and a proactive approach, ready to make a positive impact on patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting patients safely and comfortably between waiting areas, treatment rooms, and other departments as required.
- Assisting patients with mobility, using wheelchairs or other aids as necessary.
- Moving and setting up medical equipment, supplies, and furniture efficiently and safely.
- Delivering and collecting mail, specimens, and other important items within the clinic.
- Ensuring clinical areas are tidy, well-stocked, and ready for patient use.
- Providing a friendly, reassuring presence to patients and visitors, answering general queries where appropriate.
- Responding promptly to requests from clinical staff and management, prioritising tasks effectively.
- Adhering to all health and safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and patient confidentiality policies.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a clear and friendly manner.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift, push, and pull moderate loads safely.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures and a willingness to learn more.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service environment is a plus.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
